Many of the oldest adults, and therefore most vulnerable, will have received their most recent vaccine dose from September 2021. These individuals are at higher risk of severe COVID-19, and with the lapse of time, their immunity derived from vaccination may wane substantially before autumn 2022. Therefore, as a precautionary strategy for 2022, the JCVI advises a spring dose, around 6 months after the last vaccine dose.
These vaccinations will be offered to:
- Adults aged 75 years and over
- Residents in a care home for older adults
- Individuals aged 12 years and over who are immunosuppressed
Vaccinations will be delivered outside of Moss Healthcare at local vaccination sites and they can be booked via the National Booking service or by calling 119.
Please do not call the practice as we are unable to book these vaccinations for you.
The NHS will invite people to arrange a jab through the national booking service when it is their turn. It can be accessed online at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination or by calling 119.
Please note that patients are not immediately eligible, no one can book an appointment slot until 6 months after their previous dose. Therefore in reality we suspect that the majority of eligible people will not be due until the end of May.
